Bold change for vineyard

what i’m fighting for

  • Vineyard has one of the highest property tax rate in Utah County. That’s unacceptable.

I’m running to change that. I believe in fiscal responsibility. Your tax dollars should be respected, not wasted. A limited tax base has pushed the burden onto homeowners, especially seniors.

I’ll fight against tax hikes, cut wasteful spending, and push for responsible budgeting. I’ll also work to attract more businesses to grow our tax base, so we can lower property taxes and ease the burden on Vineyard families.

  • When I saw Vineyard’s parking crisis. I organized hundreds of residents and started a grassroots movement called Fix Vineyard Parking, bringing the city to the table to address this long-overdue crisis. Through this process, it became clear we have a systemic issue, and leadership has not treated this matter with the urgency it deserves. This is why I’m running, to remove the city pass requirement in Lakefront, get the city out of the parking business, ensure all future developments have ample or surplus parking, and stop predatory booting practices that are harming our students. By doing all of those things, we will fix the parking shortage, prevent the overcrowding of streets for homeowners, and stop the parking situation from continuing to be a stain on Vineyard’s reputation. HOA boards are elected by their neighborhoods to represent their people, they are the voice of their community and the city should be working hand in hand with them and listening, they know their community needs, this shouldn’t be a fight, it should be about helping people, and I’m committed to continuing this work and finishing the job on City Council.

  • Residents deserve a city government that listens.

Transparency isn’t just a buzzword — it’s the foundation of trust. People need to understand how decisions are being made in Vineyard, and they deserve to be part of the process. That starts with making city government more open, more accessible, and more accountable.

I’ll push for public comments to be moved to the beginning of every City Council meeting, where they belong — so residents are heard before votes are cast. I’ll push for regular town halls and open forums where people can share concerns, ask questions, and actually be part of the conversation. I’ll work to build a culture that welcomes open debate, even disagreement, because that’s how better decisions get made.

We may not always agree, but every resident deserves to be heard, respected, and included in the process.

  • Vineyard needs a stronger tax base.I will fight against high-density development and push for commercial businesses like Trader Joe’s and family-friendly entertainment to boost sales tax revenue and fund infrastructure.

  • As someone with experience in the mental health field, I know how much our environment affects our well-being. Access to parks, trails, and the lake is essential for mental health, family connection, and the community. Vineyard's natural beauty is a gift, but it requires proactive leadership to protect and enhance these spaces for both people and wildlife. At the same time, we must confront Vineyard’s severe bug problem, which is limiting access to our parks, trails, and lake. I refuse to accept that this is just how it is. I am committed to working with scientists and experts to find real, professional, and effective solutions. We can protect the environment and Defeat the Bugs, both are critical to restoring and improving the quality of life for all Vineyard residents.

  • Families need more places to connect and enjoy the city. I will push for outdoor entertainment like go-kart racing, family centers like FatCats, amphitheaters, parks, and public spaces to bring the community together.

  • With rapid growth, education funding is critical. I will fight to keep education taxes out of the RDA, push to restructure it, and work with the cities that have formed the new “Timpanogos School District” to ensure our teachers and students are supported.

what I’ve already accomplished

Dispite not being on the city council Jacob Wood has already made an impact on the community

Co-Sponoring the Referendum

Jacob Wood joined with a group of residents to co-sponsor a referendum aimed at putting a $35 million bond decision on the ballot. Jacob believed it was in the community’s best interest to have a public vote on such a major financial commitment. While he supports smart growth, Jacob felt other priorities should come first — and above all, that residents deserve transparency and a voice in the process. In response to the referendum effort, the city ultimately withdrew the bond proposal, ending the process before it reached the ballot

Pause on unfair parking rule in lakefront

Jacob Wood, a Lakefront resident, has lived through Vineyard’s parking crisis firsthand. After watching friends and neighbors continue to get booted under a confusing and unfair policy, he decided to take action. Many families and college students were being punished and were required to have pass two passes just to park by their home. One city-issued and one from their HOA.

Jacob founded Fix Vineyard Parking, a grassroots movement that rallied nearly 500 residents across the city. His efforts helped bring the city to the table, resulting in a pause on the city pass enforcement along 300 W and Vineyard Loop Road.

Jacob believes that when government gets it wrong, it should admit it and then fix it. He knows that parking should involve collaboration with HOAs, who are elected by their communities.

Jacob is running to end the parking crisis once and for all. It has become a stain on Vineyard’s reputation, and his fight to fix it will only grow stronger when he’s on City Council.
